Alright, enough of the chit chat you say? Okay, let's get down to it and start Suffering the right way. This Sufferlandrian article will cover how to setup your workout page and get your enterPAINment underway. Once you select your video of choice, simply press the PLAY button at the top right of the screen.
Now we are in the device connection page. This can tend to me one of the more difficult areas when setting up your indoor trainer. The first thing we are going to look for is that ANT+ says "ON". If it does not say "ON", we must unplug and plug our device back into our computer. Still not working? Please read the article on Troubleshooting ANT+ Connectors.
At this point we can scan for devices to connect to the App. Make sure each device you want to connect is active by moving a pedal or wearing a heart rate strap. If you are still having difficulties connecting your devices read the article on Troubleshooting Sensor Connections. The last step we have in troubleshooting the sensors is setting them up individually. Users who are running with a Non-Smart Trainer will also need to setup their speed sensor individually.
The first place we start our setup is the Power section. By clicking on the power meter icon, it will pull up the power management section. In this section we have the option to connect ANT+ sensors to display power. You will see the ANT symbol above your sensor. Simply select your sensor that you want to use. Then you can pedal your indoor bike and see the power results displayed to verify your connection. For those people who are using Virtual Watts, then you will need to follow the next step by selecting the virtual power box.
If you are using a standard trainer, then you must connect your speed sensor before you connect your cadence sensor. Furthermore, if your speed sensor is no longer reporting, the disable your cadence sensor and then connect everything again. Next, pick your supported trainer from the dropdown menu provided. After you have selected your trainer, then you will have the option to connect your speed sensor. You must have a speed sensor to use Virtual Watts. That is how the Sufferfest App determine wattage for your individual trainer. Is your trainer not listed as one of the supported trainers? The Minions at Sufferlandrian Services can use a Power Curve if you have a legitimate one. That means it is a Power Curve from the Manufacturer, reliable site on the Internet, or your buddy let's you borrow his power meter. Please email TheMinions@TheSufferfest.com for more information on how to get your standard trainer added to the list of supported trainers.
Heart Rate is pretty simple. It is just a matter of putting on your heart rate sensor and letting The Sufferfest App find it. Do you own a wearable (watch) heart rate device? Unfortunately, we cannot support most wearable heart rate watches. More information here at Compatibility of Wearable Fitness Trackers.
Cadence is also a fairly straight forward setup. If you are experiencing any difficulties with Virtual Watts displaying correctly, or the Power Meter not connecting, then delete the cadence section and see if that helps. Sometimes cadence can interfere with sensors reporting at this time. If you are having these problems, please email TheMinions@TheSufferfest.com.
Phew! Are we all connected now and ready to Suffer? The last thing we can do before we enter Sufferlandria is change our workout intensity. Grunter Von Agony said that this intensity control should only be moved up. However, you can move it down, just don't let GvA see you do it.
The Last thing we can do in this page is make a decision if we want to download our videos for offline use or stream the videos. We have a detailed explanation on how to manage the download option and device memory in the article Download Videos For Offline Use.
Now that you are all set, we can move to the actual workout page. Please follow the article Operating Within The Workout.
