Now that we understand the basics of using the Sufferfest App and how to navigate to your workout, let's discuss how to operate the App when we are full on Suffering.
- Workout Environment
- Pausing A Workout
- Finishing and Gloating
As a Sufferlandrian, you are suffering, the bleeding eyes are in full effect, and we want to understand what we are looking at in our Suffer Fog! Let's look at our Sufferfest screen in all of its Glory!
At the top we see our Cadence and Cadence Goal, Heart Rate with our Heart Rate Zones, and Power reading with our required power output. All of these readings will change in color if we are above or below our targets. The category will change to a blueish/green color if you are below your target value, and will change to red if you are above your target value.
At the bottom of the screen we see our workout profile. A green line will follow along the workout profile as you continue your suffering. The timed number on the left is how much time you are into the workout. The timed number on the right is how much time is left in the workout.
Now, once you start pedaling and your cadence sensor starts reporting, the workout will begin. Also, if you stop pedaling, within about 2 to 5 seconds your workout will automatically pause. If at anytime you manually pause your workout, it will disable the cadence pause and start function.
In our next screen we will look at our options when we mouse over the screen during the workout. When you mouse over the screen it will bring up three options. The first option to the Left is to increase or decrease your workout intensity. Of course we know all Sufferlandrians will only be increasing intensity! You can manually pause the workout by clicking the pause button in the center of the screen. The last thing we can do is check our device connectivity on the right side of the screen.
When scrolling over and clicking on our device list to the right of the screen, we can then pull up our devices that are connected to the App.
Now we can see all of our devices listed to the right of our workout screen to validate everything is connected. In the future, we will be integrating the ability to troubleshoot our devices from this menu. Next, we will take a look at our options once the workout is paused from manually clicking on the pause button in the center of the screen, or when we stop pedaling.
Pausing a Workout
You are working hard and suffering to your upmost capability! However, you've just realized that your group ride has just been moved up an hour. There is no way you will miss an opportunity to show those couchlandrians how to suffer on the road. You pause your video and decide you will only do the very last interval set in your workout before you head out the door to crush couchlandrians.
In this screen we can move our cursor to the section of the workout that you only have time to complete. Or, maybe you are on your second video and just don't need the warmup. This is the time to move the workout forward by clicking on the red box below the workout profile and moving it forward. This will automatically move the video and workout profile forward. Of note, if you are streaming the video, please give the video about 10 to 20 seconds to catch up.
You also have the option to adjust your workout volume in the pause menu. Maybe you prefer to listen to the soothing sounds of SLAYER instead of the music within the video. Just turn the volume all the way down in the pause menu.
Changing Your Graph
You can change your bottom graph display when in the workout mode by simply selecting the view menu at the top of the Sufferfest App. This will allow you to track Power, Heart Rate, or Cadence during your workout.
Changing Intensity On The Fly
Need to ramp up that intensity, or (we won't tell Grunter Von Agony) just need to take it down a notch so you can crush couchlandrians the next day, we have a shortcut for that. Simply press the up and down arrows on your Mac keyboard to change your intensities on the fly.
Finishing and Gloating
The other option you have in this window is to finish the workout. We know life gets busy, so there will be times when you have to bail on your Sufferfest workout. Clicking on the "Finish Workout" button will take us to our final menu for our Sufferfest workout.
You have finished your Suffering and are ready to Save and Gloat. In completion of your workout you will get two notifications. The first notification will tell you that you have finished your workout, the second notification at the top will let you know that you didn't complete your workout. We have the name of our workout just below our notification and the ability to add comments just below that. We see our links that we have activated, and where we will be sharing our suffering. At the very bottom we see the ability to continue our workout by clicking on "Resume" or to "Save & Gloat". Lastly, if we had too many couchalandrian tendencies, or our sensors were acting like a bunch of couchlandrians and didn't want to connect, we can delete the workout by clicking on the trash can in the upper right.
